RUSH Frontman Interviewed On Brazil's 'Metrópolis' (Video)
October 8, 2010Brazil's TV Cultura program "Metrópolis" conducted an interview with bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee of the Canadian rock trio RUSH prior to the kick-off of the band's South American tour, which launches tonight (Friday, October 8) at the Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo, Brazil. You can now watch the chat below.
As previously reported, RUSH was once again snubbed for possible induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame when the list of nominees was announced on September 28, with names like LL COOL J, CHIC and DONNA SUMMER making the list ahead of the influential and still thriving Canadian progressive rock trio.
Documentary filmmaker Scot McFayden, who co-directed the recent award-winning film "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage", told EW.com about the band's omission, "It's unfortunate. We were hoping a lot more people in the (nominating) room had seen our documentary, and maybe that would have given them a different perspective on the band. But there are just some people that are holding out."
McFayden added that the group's exclusion was not completely surprising, saying, "They've never been a critics' band. The industry people that are involved with the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, RUSH has never been cool enough for them."
McFayden says that he's spoken with Hall insiders who have pushed to get RUSH on the ballot and thinks there's a chance the band could get nominated next year.
RUSH will be honored at the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards on November 4 in New York City with the Legend of Live award, which "honors groups or individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to live music and the touring business, and acknowledges the recipients' commitment to the art of performing live and reaching fans through the concert experience."
Guitarist Alex Lifeson told The Pulse of Radio that RUSH has always taken pride in their live playing. "As a band of three guys, we try very hard to make a big sound, and try to make sure that it fits really well together," he said. "And I'm very proud of that."
Earlier this year the band was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
